How to Care for Your Walter Sky Gear: Tips for Longevity

Walter Sky gear is crafted with innovative fabrics and cutting-edge technology to ensure durability and high performance. To keep your items in tip-top shape, it’s important to follow specific care instructions for washing, storing, and handling different fabrics. Here’s a comprehensive guide on how to care for your Walter Sky gear:

NUYARN®

Garments like WS-MT01, WS-MH01, WS-MH02, along with all of our socks are made from Nuyarn®, a next-generation merino wool that’s stronger, stretchier, quicker drying, and warmer than traditional merino base layers. To maintain these garments:

  • Avoid tumble drying, as merino wool can shrink up to 4 cm in length. Hang dry to prevent shrinkage.

  • Machine wash cold or warm for best results.

  • If needed, iron on medium heat.

  • Avoid bleach and dry cleaning.

CEBONNER

The WS-T01 is crafted with CEBONNER spun nylon yarn, which offers a cotton-like touch and high functionality. To preserve its quality:

  • Machine wash warm (or simply wear it during a torrential downpour).

  • Tumble dry on medium heat or let it dry in the sun.

  • No need to dry clean or iron.

THREAD MONSIEUR

Featured in WS-T01 and WS-T02, Thread Monsieur is an odor-extinguishing thread that neutralizes ammonia. Here’s how to care for this particular fabric:

  • Machine wash warm.

  • Avoiding bleach and dry cleaning to retain the odor-neutralizing properties.

DOT AIR PRIMEFLEX

The WS-B02 and WS-S01 use Dot Air Primeflex fabric, known for its stretch, recovery, and breathability. To keep these items in peak condition:

  • Machine wash warm (or wash in a nearby river).

  • Tumble dry on medium or air dry.

  • Use a cool iron with a press cloth or wear it to generate body heat for a steam press.

KUDOS DWR TREATMENT

The WS-B02, WS-S01, and WS-J02 also benefit from Kudos DWR Treatment, which provides abrasion resistance and water and oil repellency. To maintain this treatment:

  • Avoid fabric softeners and bleach, as these can degrade the DWR treatment.

  • Tumble dry on medium heat to rejuvenate the treatment after washing.

ADDITIONAL TIPS

  • Shrinkage: Expect minor shrinkage for nylon and polyester shirts (around 1.5 cm in length). Merino wool products can shrink up to 4 cm, so avoid tumble drying.

  • Storage: Store your Walter Sky gear in a cool, dry place. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, which can degrade the fabric over time.

  • Handling: Handle with care, especially when washing in natural water sources like rivers. Ensure items are securely fastened to your pack when drying during hikes to avoid snags or tears.

By following these care instructions, you can ensure the longevity and performance of your Walter Sky gear, keeping it ready for your next adventure.
